Hot on the heals of approval of HeatingSave’s Small Business system by the Carbon Trust and the Government Department DEFRA, is approval of the HeatingSave Enterprise system for larger multi-boiler central heating installations.
HeatingSave Enterprise has been added to the Energy Technology List of approved products for the enhanced capital allowances scheme. Registered in the optimizing Controllers for Wet Heating Systems category, under reference number 43923, the distinguishing features include the ability to sequence and optimize up to 5 boilers with each one burning the same or different fuel types. Key features of HeatingSave Enterprise are
- Supports large, multi-site businesses
- Supports multiple boilers and heating zones
- Full heating and facilities diary
- Graphs and statistics showing savings
- MicroSoft Sequel ServerTM database software - control from anywhere in the world where you have an internet connection.
- Starting price from just £2,985
- Modular, expandable system to build a global energy saving network with multiple heating systems and heating zones
The engineering preparation work for HeatingSave was again carried out by Dr Alex Starling, this time also aided by Dr Paul Jones. Dr Starling said “The multi-boiler sequencing and optimization routines of HeatingSave Enterprise are excellent”, after he witnessed the HeatingSave graphs showing real live applications. This was where the heating algorithm reached the required temperature at just the right point in time using the least amount of energy possible. He added “… the automatic room occupancy detectors together with automatic outside temperature compensation of room set points work very well.” Here, Dr Starling was referring to the ability of HeatingSave to automatically vary a heating zone required temperatures by the outside temperature to cater for the ‘feel’ experienced by people when they are too hot or cold. For example, 19.50°c might ‘feel’ cold in the middle of winter but ‘feel’ too hot in early spring or autumn.
HeatingSave Enterprise is an RS485 networked system allowing up to 255 HeatingSave T3514 controllers to be connected into a single site network, and up to 5,000 sites world wide. Each T3514 controller can manage a heating system, but also a lot more. This includes control of immersion heaters where just like a heating zone the temperature can be varied at different times of the day, and similar control of air conditioning equipment.
The new version of the Enterprise system, due to be launched in September 2009, also features
- Automatic light level monitoring, both inside and outside.
- Automatic switching and management of internal and external lighting
- Multi-site facilities management via the Internet
- Telephone setting and text-to-speech processing of commands from mobile phones so heating and lighting and other facilities can be managed ‘on the move’.
- Full kWh energy usage reporting.
Finishing his review of HeatingSave Enterprise, Dr Starling commented “HeatingSave Enterprise is a good inexpensive system for businesses who want to automatically reduce their energy usage, spend and CO2 emissions”
