Companies should have up-to-date building management systems in today’s world.

A Cornish seaside resort town is overhauling the building management systems of its local swimming pool, Better, Splash Leisure Pool.

The pool says the ‘significant investment’ will modernise its behind the scenes plant equipment, ‘with huge environmental, financial and operational benefits for the leisure centre and our customers’.

There will be some service disruption, with the pool and coffee shop closing from September 3 to September 16. The estimated completion date is October 1.

The 16-week refurbishment intends replace all the expired and/or inefficient plant and equipment with the  most advanced heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems available, delivering the consistent operational conditions expected in a modern day leisure centre. At the same time the new systems will be energy efficient and greatly reduce the centre’s carbon footprint to provide economic benefits.

Very basic electronic control will be replaced with the most sophisticated Building Energy Management System (BEMS) available to date. The BEMS design strategy will take total control of the plant so as to maximise operational efficiency and minimise energy usage whilst delivering the required environmental and operational conditions.

A spokesperson for Better said: “We would like to thank you for your patience during this vital work, and look forward to re-opening our pools and coffee shop on Monday, September 17.

“For more information, speak to a member of staff on your next visit to the centre, who will be happy to help.”

It is undeniable that if your building is still running on old, outdated management systems, you need to upgrade quickly. HeatingSave, the smart building management system, is cheaper and easier to use than other building management systems and offers you a dazzling array of features.

A building controlled by HeatingSave will be far more efficient than an older system – we have never failed to save a customer money on their bills and our lowest percentage of savings is 18%. What could you do with 18% more money in your bank account?

Our building management system is fully in the 21st century. Not only can you generate daily energy reports, but you can control many different settings from your mobile phone, and get immediate alerts if something goes awry. This gives you increased flexibility, and less worry.

HeatingSave has a specialised algorithm which can work out the latest  possible moment to turn on your heating in order to reach your required temperature. This means you don’t have to have the heating blasting for unnecessary time periods just to keep the building at a suitable temperature. Our efficient building management system can even detect whether or not there are people in room thanks to its occupancy sensors, and it will adjust the temperatures accordingly. The whole philosophy is about avoiding waste.

The HeatingSave sensors measure numerous factors in order to keep  up an accurate minute-by-minute record of consumption of gas, electricity, oil and water. These factors include:

  • Outside temperature,
  • Hot water cylinder temperature
  • Heating flow & return temperatures
  • Relative humidity (RH)
  • Carbon dioxide (CO2)
  • Light levels (LUX)
  • Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC)

The HeatingSave controller is compatible with the vast majority of makes of natural gas, oil, LPG, electric and heat pump systems, and can also control air-conditioning as well as solar panels and other forms of renewable energy.
