Energy Boss Says Commercial Bills Will Rise This Winter

In July, the IEA, an organisation that provides data and analysis and recommends policies to Government and businesses, told the media that "we cannot rule out" another spike in gas prices. The IEA seems pretty dismissive of the Government with the staging down of support for businesses, with no likelihood of any support coming this winter.

It was not just the IEA that expressed concern, the head of Centrica, which owns British Gas, also warned that energy bills are likely to stay high for the foreseeable future.

All of this is hard for businesses in general, but particularly for those in the hotel and hospitality industries, with some saying that if they don't do something to cut gas consumption before autumn, they will find it hard to be in business during the colder months.

One answer to cut gas consumption is by better managing the heating plant and equipment that venues already have. You might think that this is hard to do, but there is help out there. A British manufacturing company called HeatingSave has invented a computerised AI heating management system, approved by the Government on its Energy Technology list.

Some hospitality businesses, such as Groombridge village hall, have saved on their energy bills with HeatingSave. "The fact that we could better control the heating meant that we could reduce our heating and energy bills," said Mr. Sanders of Groombridge.

In fact, they can probably save over 25% compared to the price of gas before the current energy crisis. Mr. Sanders also added that he looked on the Internet and couldn't find anything similar to HeatingSave, so HeatingSave sounds like a "must" for hotels, pubs, restaurants, and similar venues in the hospitality industry.
