Gazprom Energy to offer fixed gas tariffs for UK businesses

Business-focused energy provider Gazprom Energy has just revealed a new gas tariff targeting specifically mid-sized businesses, a news report on the matter reveals.

Dubbed Shield, this new tariff is designed to protect mid-sized businesses from rising gas prices, as it enables customers to fix their gas price for up to two years, according to the company’s statement.

Gazprom Energy reckons that as much as 25% of the business gas bill can be made up of third party charges covering transportation, distribution, loss/theft and meter reading, but the new fixed price business gas tariff will help protect against these uncertainties.

The company supplies gas and electricity to more than 11,000 UK public and private sector organizations and said that Shield had been specifically developed for customers consuming medium volumes of gas annually, typically anywhere in the 500,000 — 15 million KWh range.

Obviously, this new tariff represents very good news for all UK-based mid-sized companies, but the truth of the matter is that fixed gas prices will not be enough in order to reduce energy-related costings, and this is specifically where the HeatingSave Building Energy Management System comes into play.

HeatingSave enables users to save up to 20 to 30 percent on their gas and electricity bills by optimizing consumption levels across any building, depending on its specific heat-loss profile.

What really makes HeatingSave stand out from the crowd is the fact that it grants energy managers an extensive level of control over the building’s heating patterns, meaning that heating will not be on during weekends or holidays unless the building is actually in use.

Additionally, the system also enables automatic occupancy detection allowing the temperature to be reduced to a background when areas are not used and quickly brought up to temperature when they are being used.

It’s also very important to mention that HeatingSave can take an automatic decision on whether to use electricity or gas for heating during summer, and also enables users to set a night setback temperature, reducing the night heating by a few degrees to still keep 24/7 operations warm whilst saving energy and money.
