Energy and Climate Change Committee to consider home energy efficiency schemes

The MPs from the Energy and Climate Change Committee have revealed plans to look into potential future energy efficiency initiatives throughout next week, taking evidence on home energy efficiency and demand reduction, a recent news report in the local media has been able to reveal.

The Committee will explore a number of issues including the future of supplier obligations, tackling fuel poverty and the ‘hard to reach’, local authorities playing a greater role in delivering energy efficiency, addressing the balance between obligations, grants and regulations as well as driving demand.

It stated: “Energy efficiency and demand reduction is one of the most cost effective ways to cut carbon emissions, improve energy security and reduce consumer bills. However, the government has announced the end of two key policies – Zero Carbon Homes and the Green Deal – without bringing forward any replacement schemes. The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) is also due to come to an end in March 2017.

“The Committee [will investigate] what lessons can be learnt from these and previous energy efficiency schemes. The evidence received feeds into our scrutiny of energy efficiency policies over the course of this Parliament.”

HeatingSave – helping home owners save energy and money

Domestic and non-domestic customers alike can take advantage of the impressive level of energy efficiency enabled by the HeatingSave Building Energy Management System, which allows user to save 20 to 30 percent on their gas and electricity bills by optimizing consumption levels across any building, depending on its specific heat-loss profile.

Plus, the system also includes automatic occupancy detection features, allowing the temperature to be reduced to a background when areas are not used and quickly brought up to temperature when they are being used.

It’s also very important to mention that HeatingSave can take an automatic decision on whether to use electricity or gas for heating during summer, and also enables users to set a night setback temperature, reducing the night heating by a few degrees to still keep 24/7 operations warm whilst saving energy and money.
