Energy suppliers should cut consumer gas bills following drop in wholesale prices

Industry analysts are urging energy suppliers to cut consumer gas bills following a 16% drop in wholesale prices since December, a media news report suggests.

In December, the price for a one-year contract starting in April 2014 was 72 pence a term, but that has now fallen to 60.5 pence. As a result, analysts say energy suppliers should pass on that price cut to their customers, who should expect their bills to go down by somewhere in the vicinity of 30 pounds.

Quite obviously, energy suppliers are not willing to follow the analysts’ advice, arguing that wholesale prices fluctuate on a daily basis and that the cost of buying the gas only makes up part of a consumer’s energy bill.

The energy companies’ immediate and strong reaction proves once more that customers who are seriously considering the prospect of implementing energy efficiency solutions in order to save energy and reduce their bills should seriously consider going for a HeatingSave Building Energy Management System, given the extensive range of cost-effective features it provides.

Building Energy Management Systems are capable of delivering extensive monitoring and control options, compared to basic controls. They typically employ data from a variety of sources (boiler flow and return sensors, internal and external temperature sensors, occupancy sensors, humidity sensors, etc.), and enable the perfect optimization of a building’s boiler-based central heating system.
