The Earth is headed for six degrees of warming unless dramatic carbon cuts are made by the major economies. That is the verdict of a report examining global emissions per unit of GDP, known as carbon intensity. Its authors PwC say 5.1 per cent annual cuts of carbon intensity is needed through to 2050 if the planet is to avoid the worst effects of climate change. In contrast, just 0.8pc annual cuts have been achieved on average since 2000.
