Energy efficiency investments worth more than 5 billion pounds mobilised by the UK GIB

The UK Green Investment Bank (GIB) that managed to mobilize funding worth over 5 billion pounds for energy efficiency and clean energy projects since it officially opened for business two years ago, a recent news report was able to reveal.

The organization has has invested around £1.6 billion in 37 projects – ranging from offshore wind farms to energy efficiency to energy from waste developments – across Britain, with companies putting in £3.7 billion.

Once all the investments are operational, the GIB is projected to make an annual operating profit in excess of £10 million every year.

The projects are also expected to produce enough electricity to power more than three million homes, prevent 1.5 million tonnes of waste going to landfill as well as cut greenhouse gas emissions by 3.6 million tonnes.

Building Energy Management Systems are capable of delivering extensive monitoring and control options, compared to basic controls. They typically employ data from a variety of sources (boiler flow and return sensors, internal and external temperature sensors, occupancy sensors, humidity sensors, etc.), and enable the perfect optimization of a building’s boiler-based central heating system.
