Gas demand to drop by 35% in May, suppliers estimate

As a direct result of spring setting in and overall night-time/daytime temperatures growing, residential demand for gas is expected to fall by around 35% this month, the daily market report from npower has revealed.

BBL flows are restored to just below 20 million cubic meters (mcm) and Rough injection demand is slightly lower at 16mcm today, npower Client Portfolio Manager Steven Walker pointed out. He also commented that “With lighter storage demand this summer, we could see additional pressure on front gas contracts in the coming weeks although heavy Norwegian maintenance beginning next week could provide some support”.

While switching off the heating was to be expected at this time of the year, the truth of the matter is that actual long-term savings can only be expected when you decide to implement a high-end solution designed specifically to optimize your energy consumption.

The HeatingSave Building Energy Management System helps customers save more than 30% on their bills by optimizing any heating system’s overall functionality. This is done by taking into account a variety of factors, such as internal and external temperatures, occupancy, time of the year, the particular characteristics of installed boilers, etc. All of the data is used in order to determine the best heating patterns for the various heating zones within any building, using our proprietary heat-loss algorithm.

The end result is that users still get a very good level of comfort, while in the same time saving energy and money in the process.
