Green Deal program still limping ahead, despite large number of assessments

In spite of the relatively high number of Green Deal assessments that have already been carried out, the actual number of households that have successfully implemented energy efficiency measures under the Government’s program is still very low, the latest figures released by the DECC (Department for Energy and Climate Change) have revealed.

Up to the end of July, a total of 58,124 Green Deal Assessments were lodged up, up from 44,479 at end of June. Additionally, there were 419 Green Deal Plans in the system for individual properties as at the end of July, compared to 306 at the end of June. Of these, 286 were ‘new’ Green Deal Plans, 132 had moved to ‘pending’, but just one was ‘live’.

A ‘new’ Green Deal Plan is after a customer has obtained a quote from a Green Deal Provider and confirmed they wish to proceed. The Green Deal Provider has then successfully requested a Green Deal Plan record prior to signature by the customer. A ‘pending’ Green Deal Plan is when a Green Deal Plan has been signed by the customer, progress is being made to install Green Deal Plan features and the Plan is being finalized so that charging can start.

The final stage, also known as a ‘live’ Green Deal Plan is after the measures have been installed in the property, the information required to disclose the plan to future bill payers has been attached to the Plan and the energy supplier has all the information required to 4 bill Green Deal charges. At this stage the daily charge has been confirmed along, with the date from when the charge will be accrued on their electricity bill.

The HeatingSave technology is registered on the Government Energy Technology List, which means that users can easily obtain Green Deal funding in order to have the system installed.

Plus, since it allows home owners to cut energy bills by up to an impressive 30%+, HeatingSave is the perfect energy-saving measure to implement, given the huge long-term savings it enables.
