Energy efficiency is now a “necessity, not a nicety”, expert report warns

Greater energy efficiency has become a “necessity, not nicety” for all organisations due to a variety of factors such as spiralling energy costs, growing concern over energy security and increasing regulatory pressure to reduce carbon emissions, international certification body BM TRADA has warned.

The organizations has argued that heavy-energy industry sectors including transport, food producers and manufacturers, public sector organisations such as hospitals, schools and local authority buildings, energy companies and construction firms have the “most to gain” from overhauling their energy management procedures.

Tom Johnston, BM TRADA’s Chief Operating Officer of Central Certification Services, said companies need to continue “rising to the challenge” of energy management: “The cost of energy is rising rapidly, fuelled in part by growing concern over energy security, and it is the business and public sectors that are feeling the financial impact the most.

“At the same time, energy efficiency is now firmly on government agendas in a bid to tackle carbon emissions and wastage in the industrial sector is being met with increasingly heavy penalties.

“Outdated and inefficient energy management systems are not only costing companies more than they realise, running into millions of pounds, but are also leaving businesses and organisations wide open to financial and reputational risks which they can ill afford to deal with.”

Advanced BEMS (Building Energy Management System) solutions represent one of the top energy efficiency measures organizations of any scope and size can turn to, given the fact that they enable a superior level of control over the heating system and its extensive optimization, thus leading to lower overall consumption levels.

And this is exactly where the HeatingSave system might prove its worth, since our solution allows customers to achieve immediately savings of up to 30%+ on their energy bills. This is achieved by optimizing the energy consumption levels within any building with the help of an advanced heat-loss algorithm that creates a specific profile for any building and based on that, switches heating on later if its warm and off earlier if its cold.

It also automatically adjusts your boiler depending on how warm it is outside – save up to another 10%.

Furthermore, the system also offers an advanced automatic occupancy detection system that allows the temperature to reduce to a background when areas are not used and quickly brought up to temperature when they are being used.
