Energy efficiency measures to help NHS Trusts cut bills

Energy management systems and other energy saving measures will help NHS Trusts cut back on energy spending, and the UK’s Green Investment Bank (GIB) seems to be quite keen on supporting multiple projects in this segment.

In fact, the UK GIB has partnered with De Lage Landen (DLL) have announced a new £50m funding alliance focused on supporting NHS energy efficiency projects, a recent news report on the matter was able to reveal.

Both parties will be investing £25m each into this new venture. The first project to be funded by the alliance will be at Queen’s Medical Centre, part of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, where £7.5m is being invested to finance the installation of a suite of energy production and reduction measures.

GIB estimates that energy efficiency measures (such as energy management systems, intelligent heating control systems, efficient LED ligthing, etc.) could, across the UK, cut the NHS’s current £750m energy bill by up to 20%, saving £150m each year.

Beside saving money, such investments in energy efficiency systems could provide the NHS with more reliable and resilient systems that would significantly reduce costs and operating risks.

Advanced BEMS (Building Energy Management System) solutions represent one of the top energy efficiency measures organizations of any scope and size can turn to, given the fact that they enable a superior level of control over the heating system and its extensive optimization, thus leading to lower overall consumption levels.

And this is exactly where the HeatingSave system might prove its worth, since our solution allows customers to achieve immediately savings of up to 30%+ on their energy bills. This is achieved by optimizing the energy consumption levels within any building with the help of an advanced heat-loss algorithm that creates a specific profile for any building and based on that, switches heating on later if its warm and off earlier if its cold.

It also automatically adjusts your boiler depending on how warm it is outside – save up to another 10%.

Furthermore, the system also offers an advanced automatic occupancy detection system that allows the temperature to reduce to a background when areas are not used and quickly brought up to temperature when they are being used.
