Heating bills could lead to serious cuts in Christmas spending, research suggests

High energy costs are likely to affect the spending habits of over 24 percent of the UK population, a new survey by renewable heating company Innasol was able to reveal.

The survey results show that over 60% of UK adults wait as long as possible before switching the heating on, often eventually relenting due to their children’s requests. Many of those questioned said that they wear layer upon layer of clothing prior to turning the heat on and risking higher bills. Some respondents even said that they wait for the temperature to drop to minus figures before turning their heating on!

The survey of 1,643 UK adults suggests that those aged 35-44 are the most money conscious, with 66 percent holding off as long as possible to turn the heating on, and over four percent never even switching their heating on.

Silvio Spiess, Innasol’s CEO said, “Our research has shown that unfortunately, thousands of people will have to compromise their Christmas spending to accommodate unpredictable high heating bills this winter.

Home owners can ward off price rises by switching now to HeatingSave and saving around a quarter to one-third off bills. One of HeatingSave’s money-saving features is the room sensor which replaces where your existing room thermostat was located.

It continuously measures the temperature in your home and feeds this to the HeatingSave controller. The room sensor cannot be fiddled with, so there is no danger that someone will turn up the heating and just forget about it. It can be programmed to boost the heating for a period.

The energy management system can be simply retro-fitted to your existing heating or cooling system; and is a ‘must’ for new homes or buildings. It is approved by the independent, Government-created Carbon Trust and the Energy Saving Trust. The system can also be used to view energy usage as it happens, whether it is water consumption, electricity and other energy or resources you use from one system.

The end result is that users still get a very good level of comfort, while in the same time saving energy and money in the process. The HeatingSave Building Energy Management System helps customers save more than 30% on their bills by optimizing any heating system’s overall functionality.
