Energy efficiency measures still putting off customers due to costs

FUSE-SIDE-11

Despite offering home owners the possibility of drastically cutting their energy bills, domestic energy efficiency systems are still considered way too costly by a significant percentage of the UK population, recent research has suggested.

A new survey of 1,539 consumers by Electricity North West (ENW) points out that 56% of consumers that said they were unable to adequately heat their home blamed high costs and 30% said they would be encouraged to install energy saving measures if they received funding to do so.

Findings from the research also revealed there are still some gaps in knowledge about energy consumption – 26% of consumers believe cookers and ovens use the most energy when A-rated fridge freezers are actually the worst offenders.

Maria Wardrobe, Director of Communications at National Energy Action (NEA), said: “While awareness of energy efficiency has grown in recent years, further education is needed to empower more British consumers to make the right choices regarding their energy consumption.

“Given that 70% of survey respondents have never sought advice on how to save energy at home, it’s important that we continue to help consumers to make the right choices.”

The best way to achieve solid savings in terms of energy expenditure is to optimize the way in which your heating system is being run, and this is specifically where HeatingSave can put its extensive experience in the field to very good use.

Building Management Systems are capable of delivering extensive monitoring and control options, compared to basic controls. They typically employ data from a variety of sources (boiler flow and return sensors, internal and external temperature sensors, occupancy sensors, humidity sensors, etc.), and enable the perfect optimization of a building’s boiler-based central heating system.
