Local council sets up new fund to help residents save energy and money

FUSE-SIDE-1

A local authority is lending a helping hand to residents by creating a special fund that supports funding for installing renewable energy systems and making energy efficiency improvements to homes, businesses and community spaces, a news report in the local media has been able to suggest.

The new Camden Climate Fund consists of three different grants: households, community energy and business and is financed by Camden’s carbon offset payments, which are collected through the planning system when developments in Camden fall short of the Mayor of London’s carbon targets.

The household grant offers up to £7,500 to support residents and landlords install a range of renewable and energy efficiency measures to help reduce bills, improve energy efficiency and cut associated carbon emissions.

The community energy grant offers up to £15,000 for community energy groups to install and manage renewable energy systems that generate energy for the benefit of the local community in some form. This could be, for example, solar panels on a building such as a community centre or school.

The business grant offers up to £5,000 towards the installation costs of renewable technologies and/or energy efficiency improvements. Such measures include solar panels, lighting and heating upgrades.

Successful applicants are required to match fund 50 percent of costs, plus any additional amount over the maximum allowance. The 50 percent funding contribution is not required for households classified as ‘fuel poor’.

HeatingSave – the perfect Building Energy Management System for cutting emissions in new and existing buildings

If you’re quite worried about future developments in terms of energy management and costs, and you plan to implement an energy costs reduction plan for your business, the best place to start is HeatingSave, since our solution will allow you to actually save between 20 and 30+ percent from your monthly energy bills.

HeatingSave grants energy managers an extensive level of control over the building’s heating patterns, meaning that heating will not be on during weekends or holidays unless the building is actually in use. The system also enables automatic occupancy detection allowing the temperature to be reduced to a background when areas are not used and quickly brought up to temperature when they are being used.

It’s also very important to mention that HeatingSave can take an automatic decision on whether to use electricity or gas for heating during summer, and also enables users to set a night setback temperature, reducing the night heating by a few degrees to still keep 24/7 operations warm whilst saving energy and money.
