Global campaign launched to promote energy management system standards

HeatingSave Building Energy Management System

A global campaign to promote energy management system standards has been launched at the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) summit, a recent news report has been able to suggest.

The Energy Management Campaign encourages governments, businesses and industry to use the ISO 50001 standard as a mechanism to demonstrate progress towards climate and energy goals.

The standard supports organisations in all sectors to use energy more efficiently, through the development of an energy management system.

It develops policies for more efficient use of energy, sets targets, uses data to better understand and make decisions about energy use as well as measure the results and continually improve energy management.

Mexico’s Secretary of Energy Pedro Joaquín Coldwell said: “Implementing the ISO 50001 standard provides a consistent and measurable way, across countries, for organisations to increase energy productivity and reduce carbon emissions. The Energy Management Campaign, together with the ongoing work of the CEM, will play an important role in facilitating the world’s transition to a clean energy economy through global cooperation and public and private partnerships.”

HeatingSave – the Building Energy Management System (BEMS) of choice to help you attain ISO 50001 compliance

ISO 50001 compliance is internationally recognized as the “best practice methodology for energy efficiency”.

It supports organisations in implementing a flexible Energy Management System (EnMS) that shows where energy is being used and wasted, where the most savings can be made and crucially, helps them realise those savings, unlike the ESOS assessments.

Building Energy Management Systems are capable of delivering extensive monitoring and control options, compared to basic controls. They typically employ data from a variety of sources (boiler flow and return sensors, internal and external temperature sensors, occupancy sensors, humidity sensors, etc.), and enable the perfect optimization of a building’s boiler-based central heating system.
